Regular verbs ending in -er (except aller) for general actions or states.
It is the most consistent group with over 6,000 verbs, including verbs recently adopted in the french language, for exemple "liker" (to like). The stem stays unchanged (e.g., aim- for aimer); spelling changes can occur for pronunciation.
First group verbs are the easiest to learn due to their regular pattern; start with parler or aimer.

Common Verbs

- aimer: to love
- manger: to eat
- chanter: to sing
- regarder: to watch
- travailler: to work
Exceptions
- Verbs in -ger (e.g., manger): nous mangeons (add -e after g for pronunciation).
- Verbs in -cer (e.g., commencer): nous commençons (cedilla ç before -ons).
- Verbs in -yer (e.g., payer): je paie or je paye (optional -y- change to -i-).
